In a strongly-worded response to recent statements made by Jack Stroll, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has firmly rejected any notion of utilizing taxpayer funds to settle a dispute involving GBC (Global Banking Corporation).

Stroll had expressed frustration with the inability to withdraw his funds from the bank and suggested that legal action could have been avoided.

Prime Minister Browne, however, responded emphatically, stating, “Your expectation that our government should have stepped in and pay you US$13M with taxpayers’ money is unconscionable and wicked. The GOAB has no such fiduciary responsibility to you.”

He went on to clarify that neither he nor his administration has any regulatory authority, directorship, or shareholding in GBC. Furthermore, there is no outstanding liability or ownership interest that the government holds in the banking corporation.

Browne addressed the allegation that Stroll had repeatedly sought government intervention in his dispute with GBC, asserting, “My administration, unlike the UPP desperate MPs, will never give any such reckless undertaking to use taxpayers’ money to settle the amounts due to you from GBC. Your outlandish expectation for our government to assume the liability is a corrupt expectation.”

The Prime Minister stressed that the government has no contractual relationship with Stroll and does not owe him any funds. He made it clear that the administration will not be coerced into using taxpayers’ money to settle private debts, stating, “You will never receive a penny of taxpayers’ money to retire the GBC debt, provided my administration continues to govern this country. Not one red cent.”

In conclusion, Prime Minister Browne called on Stroll to cease and desist from bringing himself and the government into the public sphere regarding the private dispute with GBC. “Please be guided accordingly,” Browne remarked.

This strong statement reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and protecting taxpayers’ money from being used in what he perceives as an unwarranted and inappropriate manner. The dispute between Jack Stroll and GBC is likely to continue through legal channels without government intervention.
